I've got a brick wall: Elza/Elsey Waggoner, born about 1800, either MD, VA or PA. parents unknown--family lore suggests German origins, possibly a Hessian soldier for his father. Elza first appears in the 1830 census, Allegany county MD, then moves to Fayette County PA by 1840, died before 1850. Wife Mary (probable maiden: Elbin). children: Susanna, Oliver Clifford (my GGF), George Washington, Sarah, Mary. Oliver named his oldest son Elza. We've looked through old land records, etc. Had genetic testing done which dashed a theory involving a certain Hessian chaplain, Johann Christoff Wagner. Any ideas? Thanks!

My family from Maryland is the Stottlemyer family from Frederick County. My grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Stottlemyer, was born in a log cabin at the base of a mountain near Hagerstorn.
