I'm researching the Reppond family in Union Parish, LA. My husband's granmother was Evelyn Reppond b. about 1928 in Marion, Union, LA. She married Eddie Chambers. Her parents are Percy Perry Reppond b. 1/30/1893 in Union Parrish d. 1/30/1930 and Hattie M. Fox Reppond b. 9/1896 Ark. Percy's parents were Robert P. reppond and Danie. That is as far as I have gotten back on this family.
I was born and raised in Louisiana and I'm also searching the Union, Ouachita, Lincoln parish areas for my African-American ancestors.
Your Rapponds are listed in the LA death index, just in case you haven't already sent for their death certificates. You can order from The Louisiana Secretary of State's website for a very reasonable amount (non-certified copy).
Or - just call the Louisiana State Archives.
R. P. died in 1943; Dany (sic) in 1944. Check out the "family search pilot" site for some Louisiana Death Records (Work in progress). They have RP and Dany Reppond's death record transcriptions. Of course, nothing like the original.
Perhaps Robert P. was also known as "Pink"?
Pink and Dona Reppo were in Union parish in 1900 with son Perry and other children.
Check the familysearch site for a Joseph Repond in the 1880 census, which included a 'Mother-in-law'!
There is much more on "Joseph" and wife. If you connect to this Joseph, there should be enough to take you back perhaps one more generation, once VERIFIED.
Thanks, Lynda! I had already begun researching the Louisiana Death Index on the Family Search Pilot website, but did not know about the 1900 or 1880 censuses. I will have to check them out! Thanks so much!
Hi Heather, I am researching a large family of Hendrix' in Union parish. The head of the house was Willis Hendrix b.1852. I am also seeking info on a Caver family 1880's Wesley Caver, Ellen Caver. Any help would be appreciated. These are Afro-Am families.
I'm researching in Union Parish, LA. If you're not local and can't get to the Union Parish Courthouse we could talk about doing some look ups. I won't be getting out there again until around Christmas time this year, but if you're not in a rush I'd love to help you out!
