Comment by Lewis Hartswick on March 22, 2012 at 11:19am OK. Thanks. I'll give that a try. I came up with the info from the other direction so
that was the way i started but what you say makes sense. :-)

Comment by Rick Hammond on March 22, 2012 at 10:29am Lew: Simply go to family B and click add another child and select existing person then input the husband of family A as the child of the parents of family B. That shoulld work fine and bring everything over in line as he is now attached to family B.

Comment by Lewis Hartswick on March 22, 2012 at 10:20am I have a problem with linking to existing people. Scenario:
One family (A) entire family with descendants etc (no parents).
Second family (B) complete with both up and down generations.
Find that the father of husband of A is the husband of B (ie he was not on the
list of children of B). I discover this and try to link by right-click on the box for
the father of husband A and click "existing person" from the list of names I
double click on the right person. The name shows up for the father but not the
mother and the A person does not show up in the list of children of B.
What do I have to do to get the entire group of both families to link???
I even tried to do the same for the mother and get some response that she is
already linked to the person "Do I want to link again?" or something to that
effect.
Thanks for any help.

Comment by Marc Ordman on February 13, 2012 at 12:28pm hello, i downloaded the latest version of Legacy. now, when i select Temple, Go to Temple Ordinance Tracking Center, i then get an error box that says Command Line Error, Not Enough Command Line Options. so, i can't get in. is this a software problem with the latest version? thank you for your help.
Comment by Brian Kelly on January 10, 2012 at 6:46am Then I am confused. There is no clipboard for reports. The report screens do have a save and load button but those save the current report option settings so you can repeat a report later using those settings. There is no clipboard. If you tried to copy part of a report to a clipboard you must have used the Windows clipboard but that is not a Legacy function and I know of no way to view the contents of the Windows clipboard except by using a third party program
Comment by Carolyn Winterburn on January 10, 2012 at 3:11am Thanks Brian , the clipboard that I saved to was from a report book.

Comment by Brian Kelly on January 9, 2012 at 5:20am In fact there are several clipboards in Legacy, Event clipboards, Picture gallery clipboards, Source clipboards etc. and each is slightly different. In most cases you cannot "look" at the contents of the clipboard.
You can Open the Source clipboard if that is the one you mean. Look for the upward pointing triangle when you have the list of sources open.
Even though you cannot look at the contents you can still paste the contents where needed, whether to events for someone else, another picture gallery etc.
Comment by Carolyn Winterburn on January 9, 2012 at 4:13am Hi, I have saved an item to my clipboard but, even after looking in the manual for help, I can't find how to look at it. It must be easy.

Comment by Brian Kelly on December 28, 2011 at 10:29am I would just leave the given name blank. Only enter the surname for the child. Legacy will happily accept a person with only a surname.
Comment by Lewis Hartswick on December 28, 2011 at 10:24am Just went through the discussions and didn't see matching question:
I have been transcribing a family tree from a book into Legacy and there are numerous
instances of a child, either died at birth or "in infancy" with no name. I have been
entering " unknown " for the given name but Legacy displays this a real name
with capitol U ( Unknown ). I think this is a bit confusing and thought it may be
possible to either make the first letter lower case or some other "convention"
to denote this fact. What ever technique is adopted it should be consistent
with a gedcom to enable others who may use this source. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
