I hope someone can help me.  I am new to Legacy and I am trying to print a pedigree chart with the boxes being the four colors as outlined in Mary Hill's organization system.  This is what I am doing:

+ Click on Reports

+ Report Menu

+ Click on Pedigree Tab

+ Click on Color Text and Boxes

+ Chose the last option, 4 line Colors

+ Click on Save

+ Print report

What I get is my white paper with black text.  There is no color.  I would also like my names to be in boxes, but all I have are lines.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

have you tried selecting the printer options at your printer? You must select colors there before sending to print...(It happen to me)

Thanks, Arturo, I was able to find success with Legacy Charting Companion.  See below.

I don't know why you are not getting the boxes, I am, however, I can confirm that the 4 colours are not showing for me as well. I will have the latter checked and come back to you. Did you check the Boxes option under the Format tab?

No luck with the Pedigree chart and boxes.  If I want boxes, looks like I will have to go the the Ancestor chart.  Had no luck with the Legacy charting part of the program, but did find success with Legacy Charting Companion.  It is a separate purchase and I did purchase it a few months ago.

If you use the charting companion that comes with Legacy I am sure that will solve your problem. As you can set the colours on that program according ot May Hills organization system and can chose either light or dark.

Hope this helps

Thank you, Rick, for reminding me that I did, indeed, purchase Legacy Charting Companion when I purchased the Legacy program.  I went to that program and found success with the Ancestor Chart.  Mary Hill, whose organization system I am trying to use, says to use a pedigree chart but, in my mind, I wanted "boxes" and it looks like I will have to use the Ancestor chart in order to get boxes.  And I was able to get the color I was looking for.  It was a bit tricky to get six generations on one page, as I would have liked, but I was able to do that by playing around with the box sizes as well as the font sizes.  Thanks so much!

Open up Legacy Help, and search on "Color Coding of Ancestors". I think you need to do these steps before you go to reports. Legacy Help is very good at solving a lot of questions.

Thank you, I have done that and am showing one of the four colors beside each name.

You first need to set Tools>Apply Ancestor Colours>Apply Colour Coding. Why they hide stuff away like that is sometimes beyond my logical(?) mind!

Thank you for the path......

I agree with Rick.  Use the 'Charting companion'.  That will give you all the options!

Good Luck!

Thanks, LeLani.  I am now making some progress.
