Our William Lawson (1731-1826) desired his freedom so much that he faced the British, not only in his homeland of Scotland, also in the American Revolution at King's Mountain in 1780. There is about 30 years of his life unaccounted for. It was during this time he raised his family in hiding only showing up when the colonies declared their freedom from mother England. He was in hiding because he was a run-away slave. Some call it "indentured servant". But in his case, he was a slave because he was shipped to the colonies and bound out against his will.

Thanks Bill. I hope one day they make a movie about him like Rob Roy or Braveheart. I especially like the tale of the dogs tail on his plate.
