Hi Arthur:
The only William KAYE I know about was born 1805 in Almondbury Parish, the older brother of my direct ancestor Abarahm KAYE (b. 1818), son of James KAYE, grand son of Mary KAYE FEARNLEY. Abraham with his wife and young family emigrated to Paterson, NJ in 1849 to work in the silk mills there. As you've no doubt noticed, KAYE is too common a name in the Almondbury area! I also have HAIGHs and ARMITAGEs there, not any better!

Judy - Welcome. We need to find more of us.
My Kaye's are from Elland, which is not far from Almonbury. Earliest I have is Jonathan b.1791. In abt 1887 the family came to the US and settled initially in Kansas.
There was a William Kaye, from Almondbury, who came to the US in early 1800's and settled in Louisville, Ky. He had a noteworthy bell foundry there and was Mayor for a while. I've never made a connection with him...maybe he's yours!

Sorry, Mary KAYE married John FEARNLEY 23 Sep 1782, not 1781. I shouldn't rely on my memory! It was Fearnley George KAYE who was bapt. in 1781.

Hello Arthur:
My KAYEs are from the Almondbury area. Earliest I have is Joseph KAYE, bapt. abt. 1722, father's name probably John. Joseph was referred to in the P.R.s as 'of Lane' which I believe refers to Kaye Lane near Almondbury. His daughter, Mary, was also referred to as 'of Lane' for 2 illegitimate births, one my ancestor, James KAYE (bapt. 1779). She married John FEARNLEY in 1781. He was the father of her second illeg. son, Fearnley George KAYE.
