Dear friends,

On December 15, Beit Hatfutsot (Museum of the Jewish People) &
MyHeritage announce a partnership to help preserve -for the future-
digital information about the Jewish people.

This partnership, with your help, will add millions of data elements to
the existing multimedia database at the Museum.

To participate: Go to the special MyHeritage.com page
http://www.myheritage.com/BH to accept the terms & conditions and create
a FREE account to start building your family tree. MyHeritage will
periodically transfer the data to Beit Hatfutsot to update the database.

You and your family are part of the history of the Jewish people. By
sharing your family tree with the Museum, preserve your family’s memory
and history forever.

Please help everyone learn about this project through providing
information on your Website, in your blog, at your synagogues, Jewish
schools, Jewish organizations and any other media or group that might be
interested to learn about this project.

does anyone know when the bd-bd i.e. www.bd-bd.info the Beverley Davis Burial Data a magnificent database of Jewish Burials in Australia including if known Jewish name, parents names, childrens names and of course when and where buried and if no stone. This database is magnificent, and it has a sign up saying it will be down 'till Nov 19th for maintenance. What happened, it's still not up, and there are a LOT of people I'm chasing. Anyone know anything about this?

Yes stones are left on a Jewish grave to show that someone has visited and that the deceased is remembered.

This week in Australia, they had a story on Who do you think you are? Of Ben Mendolson (SP), who thought he might be related to the famous composer, turns out he wasn't that he and his family came from this one vilage now in Poland, they were Registered Jews there, which meant they had some rights, but when he went back even the cemetery was gone, it was used in WW2 as a German HQ, and thus all that's left is the wall. Amazing, so many people gone. Anyway, by some miracle a researcher found 2 bits of paper, his great great grandparents burial entries from Berlin. Just goes to show WW2, took not only the living, but the traces of the long dead 2.

Hi all, am still plodding with my Jewish group, though I am a LOT further advanced now. I have a question/comment though. On the website Find A Grave, which I'm adding photos too as a tribute to those who've passed they have an option to add flowers, then if you drop the menu down, other things as well, and if you go to religious it has a stone. Now I KNOW people leave pebbles/stones at a Jewish grave, what I'd like to know please, is why? I think it would to be either a. mark that someone has visited b. mark that someone still cares. c. lasts longer than flowers. Can someone tell please. Oh and if you're trying to find people in Australia I suggest you go to the absolutely magnificent www.bd-bd.info, which was Compiled by Beverley Davis and is a list of Jewish Burials in Australia. Although not complete, it's HUGE, and has so much info. Cheers, Jo.

My Bubbie passed away 7 Dec 2007, she was only seven days shy of her 100th birthday. She left behind her memoirs for me to finish up and pass on to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a remarkable human being, who lived an incredible life. Her memoirs are truly a blessing and a gift that have offered comfort during the grieving process, but have also have introduced me to a whole new part of our family that I never really knew, and am eager to find out more about. I am researching the families of Rachmiel (Robert) and Dora (Piel) Coleman from Lithuania, and the families of Harris (Harry) Kahn and his brother Aaron, (or possibly Aron) Kahn who emmigrated from Lithuania, to London with their mother Anna, brother Benjamin, and sisters Pauline and Rebecca, and then came to the United States. Harry was Bubbie's father and he married Robert and Dora's daughter Gussie. Aaron left his brother in New York, and then went to Pennsylvania. Benjamin stayed in London to take care of their mother who was a widow, and Pauline who was blind. Rebecca, who was also called Becky, married and emmigrated to Canada. And that is about all that I know. It's been a tough and frustrating search thus far, as I started with very little to begin with, and have come to realize that some of the information from one family is mixed up with the infomation of the other.

I am researching the Herzberg family from Kamen, Westphalia. I am also researching families from Mitwitz, Bavaria.

The Herzbergs settled in Philadelphia, PA, and in West Point, GA.
