My Jackson were Free Persons of Color in Fredericksburg Virginia. James Jackson, and his mother Sylvia were slaves to Charles Yates. James was freed in 1811, when after the death of Yates. James Jackson married Patty Bowden, who had two sons before their marriage, (Samuel & William Jackson). Samuel Jackson is my direct ancestors through his daughter Elizabeth Jackson (also born in Fredericksburg). Elizabeth Jackson had a sister Anne Jackson-Lewis, and a brother Walter Jackson. Anne Lewis moved to Chicago, and Walter moved to Washington DC, prior to the Civil War.
If anyone has information on Anne Jackson Lewis, or Walter Jackson, please contact me.
