Information About Posting

To help organize things I've made discussion threads for all the regions of Italy. If you know where the people you are researching lived, please post your queries, information, etc. in the appropriate thread. If you don't know where in Italy the people you are researching lived or if they lived in multiple areas, go ahead and post to the Comment Wall below. Also, if you feel your post is urgent or you want it to be viewed by the whole group, post to the Comment Wall.

Please don't spam the Comment Wall or Discussion Forum. If you have multiple posts you would like to share, try and combine them. Also, if you would like to post something in Italian, please add an English translation as not all of us know Italian. Thanks!

I have found out that Lorenzo Bryan came to the states in 1883. I'm over one hurdle.

hi! I'm 'trying' to research the family called "Masi". As in Masi Wine. I know that Nic(h)olas Masi can to American around 1900 and settled in New York (Manhattan). He married and had children. The first child, a girl, was born about 1917. The second child, a boy, was born 1919.

I'm not sure where in Italy they are from. And any information what-so-ever would be helpful.

Lorenzo was born in1857 in Italy. I talked to a lady yesterday and she said his name was like a name of a bush in Italian but she couldn't remember at that time of our conversation.Someone else had told me that it rhymed with stromboli.(you can laugh,I did)

I have been doing this for a few years. I do have names of other relatives. I also have Lorenzo death certicate. On it says that his parents names are unobtainable. So I probably won't be able to go back any further,bu I was interested in what part of Italy he came from and siblings ect.

Hi Michael,
I'm sorry to say that the information you gave was not my ggrandfather. He had to come to the states before 1905. His first child was born in 1893. His first wife died in 1920.

Hi Michael,
No I don't know if he was from the north or south of Italy.I have no letters written in Italian. He lived in Altoona,Pa. I don't have much to go on,that is why I'm at such a brickwall.

Hi Barbara,

My greatgrandfather last name is Bryan. That does not sound like Italian, but I was told his name got changed when he arrived in the states.I have not found out what his name actually was. Maybe that is what happened with yours.
