My husband & I just returned in May from visiting family in Ireland. Not returning until next year! Sad. I'm researching McDowells, Craigs, & McAlisters, in County Louth. Then I'm just starting to research CUNNINGHAM in Moyad, County Down, & MELLEY or Melly or Malley in County Donegal, probably Glenties. Visit my page to view Ireland photos.

I am researching Thomas Costello, born Galway, Ireland 26 Dec 1842 (mother was mary Finn) d. 14 March 1912 in Colfax Co., Nebraska. According to cemetery records he was born in Cwrittehin, County Galway. That is such an odd spelling. Anybody know what it could/should be?

I am looking for my Allen and Case families from County Wicklow. Also, Scanlan and Flaherty of County Kilkenny.

John McCully m Alice Stuart and moved to Ballyhae in County Down to raise a Protestant family. Years went by, Catholics and Protestants killed each other with regularity. Eventually John and Alice had a fine Protestant family that could not survive intact on the land the English gave them. So, they kept the eldest boy and sent the other four to America. I know only two of them; both did well. Check out their pictures on (Almost) Wordless Wednesday today (8 July 2009) at http://genealogyrooter.blogspot.com
