Greetings,
My grandmother Margaret Mahoney Reinhardt told us she was related to Jake Kilrain, but did not explain how. We are looking into his genealogy but realized that maybe her "real" cousin was actually Jake's wife, Elizabeth Hoar. We are hoping one of their lines will connect with our Mahoney, Mahony, Herlihy, Hurley, Scott, Regan, or Carroll lines, which were mostly from Inchigeelagh, in west County Cork...

I have some facts about Jake and Elizabeth that I can share. I will try to post them to the Rootsweb WorldConnect page, as soon as I figure out how to create and send a GedCom.

Hi Roz,

William & Anna Sample Hoar/Orr of northeastern PA were my gg aunt and uncle. I see that you've already found some of the obits and all that I've posted. Here's a link to them in my rootsweb file in case you'd like the census records or other information http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=alaine&id=I211. One of their grandsons, Kenny McDowell, was a lovely man who helped me start researching. He corresponded with me when I was still in high school, and sent me my first census record photocopies. I was thrilled to see my 4-year-old ggf in the 1880.

An Orr descendant/cousin told me that it was Anna who brought about the name change -- when spoken, Hoar was too easily mistaken for whore for her liking....
