Comment by Nancy Sue Hensley Hines on November 21, 2012 at 10:29pm: I wanted to update this posting. I believe the father of Joseph Hensley was Lewis W. Hensley. If you have any information I would appreciate hearing from you. Lewis was from North Carolina and moved to Kentucky.

Joseph was married to Mary Ready and they were married in Letcher County, KY in 1890. Their son George Washington Hensley was my Grandfather. I found the name of Fisly in a bible family tree, but do not know if it is real name or a nickname. I would appreciate any info.

Comment by Cathryn Hensley Smith on January 18, 2010 at 1:54pm: Hi! I am researching the HENSLEY line out of Harlan County, Kentucky that eventually went north to Benton County, Indiana. My grandfather was Earl HENSLEY b. 1925 near Harlan County, KY and died 1986 in Benton County, IN.

Comment by Jeanne (Jan) Levie on August 28, 2009 at 10:31pm: I am searching for the parents of Archibald Parker Hensley born in 1806 in Mason County, Kentucky. His father died in about 1812 and the mother and AP moved to Ripley, Ohio. Archibald married Wealtha Shaw in Ohio and they migrated to Illinois where he became the first supervisor of what came to be called Hensley Township in Champaign County Illinois. He died in Hensley township in 1876. We are trying to connect him to the rest of the Hensley family. Since AP named his first son William Franklin, we are thinking AP's father may have been William, but we don't know.

Comment by Betty Vaughn on August 5, 2009 at 7:49pm: I am interested in the family of Harmon Hensley that came from TN to Ark then to Austin's Colony in Texas. Harmon's son John Motely Hensely born 1806 came to Texas about 1828. His first wife was Mary "Polly" PRYOR Ayers.

Harmon's son, James Hensley was killed in Austin Co and an early Grand Jury was held to decide if the killing of James Hensley was justified. More about this Grand Jury and how it teaches students about law is found at the Star Museum at this URL.
