The group is made up of young musicians that play Irish music and are part of the Skibbereen branch of the Comhaltas Ceoltorii Eireann organization.  They are coming to St. Louis to play with and record with St. Louis Irish Arts, the St. Louis branch of this same organization.  Just so happens, my cousin's wife and three children are some that are coming - they are not Hegarty's, but Walshes.

Barbara--may I ask what kind of group is coming?  Certainly they're not all Hegartys!  I'll be interested to hear about their tour.  Just yesterday I got the travel package for the 12 days we're touring central Ireland.  Now I'm busily booking for that extra week my sister and I are taking to Schull and both southern and then northern Wales.   Carolyn

Carolyn - I don't know much about Schull, but the West Cork Hotel is a very nice place for one night in Skibbereen.  The 25 folks we're hosting from Skibbereen arrive in St. Louis on June 25 - what a coincidence.

Barbara--my Hagerty relatives may have been Catholic.  I've hired someone at the Skibbereen Heritage Centre to check it out.  It looks as if we'll take the train to Cork and then the bus to Sk. on Sat. June 25. Then back to Cork Sunday night before flying to Bristol Monday morning.  Do you or they have any recommendations for place to stay in Sk. or Schull Sat. night?  We will need to hire someone to take us around for the short time we're there.  The telephone listings show 2 Hegartys in Schull on Main Street so, who knows, we may have some relatives to meet.

Carolyn - I don't know how I can answer your prayers, but am more than willing to help if I can.  Three weeks from today, my cousins from Skibbereen arrive in St. Louis - reverse of what you'll be doing about the same time.

My Hegartys are from Augadown, a little east of Schull, and they were Roman Catholic.  I was a little confused by the end of your comment - Schull is in Cork, southwest County Cork.

Barbara--you may be the answer to my prayers!  Five weeks from today we leave for Ireland on a UCLA tour and then my sister and I have an extra week for research around Schull and also in Wales.  Needless to say, I'm getting panicky now as other than what appeared in a Canadian Anglican church registry saying that William Hagerty was born 25 Dec 1813 in Schull, family lore says he's from Cork!
