I'm of the old New England, Hatevil Hall (kin to Hatevil Nutter) lineage.

Another Hall line is my Rowan County, N.C., Capt. Alfred  Alexander Miller, CSA, wed Mary Elizabeth Hall, sister of "Squire" Capt. Abner Leander Hall, CSA, who wed Capt. Miller's only sister, Susan Rebecca Miller.

Their parents were Isaac Anderson Hall and Mary "Polly" Elliott of Rowan County. A kinsman, Solomon Hall, died without heirs and left "Squire" Hall and Mrs. Miller many slaves.

Isaac's father was John Hall, Jr.,who  was the son of "Col." "Dr." (no one knows why these titles) John Hall, Sr., who died Rowan Co, 1766, from Strabaum, Pennsylvania, where his sister was Anne, cousin Alexander Thompson, and uncle Henry Thompson.

John W. McLauchlin, former acting head of the CIA, has Col. Dr. John Hall, Sr's Pennsylvania Rifle he brought to North Carolina. If this was taken to the NRA Museum in Washington, they have  a list of early Pennsylvania gun makers which might add some data.

My GGGGrandfather is John Hall, born in Rhode Island on September 7, 1805, married to Mary Ann Cory in Hampton, CT on July 13, 1826, and died in Chaplin, CT on January 20, 1893. I have been unable to confirm John's parents or confirm his birth information. John and Mary's son, George, moved to Fayette County in Iowa. George's son, Eugene, moved to Minnesota where most of his decendants still reside.

My grandmother Mary Jane HALL (1866-1944) was the daughter of William HALL and Charlotte WHICHELLO of Wallingford, Berkshire. William (1820-1882) was the son of James HALL (1796-1836) and his wife Jane (surname unknown) of South Moreton, Berkshire, where they kept the Anchor Inn.
In 1890 Mary Jane HALL married my grandfather John or Jonathan HALLS - thus adding one letter to her surname!
Is anyone else researching this family?

Researching the Hall surname in general to trace the name back to Scotland, Ireland and England, specific to the Anglo/Scottish border and the 70 riding families call the Border Reivers. Involved in DNA genealogy research of surname Halls.
My specific Hall surname family researched from Triangle, (southern) New York back to New Hampshire around 1800.
