Debbie, there is one other thing that you might want to look into. As someone who comes into the site frequently and posts in many different groups, it is hard to remember where I have posted something. So I have to search through each group individually until I find it. Sometimes, I have to do this 2-3 times to find what I am looking for. Is it possible to have a link specific to each user that we can click on t show all posts we have made. I know it is not an easy thing today. But if we think about the growth that has happened in this short period of time, imaging trying to find something we posted now in a year.
Thanks

Terri

Hi all!
I am willing to try to help anyone with CSS questions. I don't claim to be an expert, but have used it, and am a programmer by profession. Together, we should be able to resolve your questions.

Thanks for the info, Laurence. I will get the 'Ning for Dummies' book asap.
Bet that will answer many of my questions.

Hi Jill
I don't think i will be using it on this site, that's if i can!, But i have created Ning sites for my other interests, and at time feel that an alteration with CSS would be good, But its finding the time to learn CSS, Its great to have somewhere that Administrators can get together and help each other out, i guess that most know about how to do thing on a Ning site, But others that are new to Ning will find it difficult running a group.

There is a book "Ning for Dummies" by Manny Herandez, priced around £16.00 that gives a good grounding of running Ning site.

I would like to have events linked to groups in addition to being able to be linked to individuals. I would really like to make GenealogyWise "Stop #1" for Southern California Genealogical Society's members -- sending announcements for events, etc. But I can't link events to the Society's page.

JIll, Click on the advanced tab on the page where you're trying to alter the theme. You can alter the css file there.

Hi all
Did you know that you can change the look of your "My page" go to your own "My page"and click "Setting", then from the page that comes up click "My page" then under appearances click the appearance link, and on the appearances page that will appear you will see the different themes that you can have for your your My page, tick the one that you want, if any, then you will find a box opens warning you about CSS and that you will lose it if you change, if you have CSS on your page then you know what it is, see below, if you don't then fine go to the bottom of the page and save, and you will have that super dooper "My page", if you do not like it then do the same again to you find one you like.

CSS if you do not know what CSS is then you are like me, if you do want to learn CSS, or want to know what it is then go to this link CSS Tutorial:

I just received the same spam message from 3 different groups I belong to. It was sent by using the send message to group button. So, I turned off that option for my group that I administer. I had not thought about that option being used to send spam. For those who do not have that option blocked, you may want to think about it

Good morning, Jim. Would you be willing to reduce the size of the world graphic you use for the Group Admins on the main Groups page? Group Admins is the Featured Group there and it takes up a huge amount of screen real estate! I like the way Group Admins appear normally in My Groups listing -- first on the list and normal size.Thank you kindly for considering a change in the size of the Featured Group graphic. Barbara

I've never been a group administrator before now. I'm a complete newbie as far as that is concerned. Any good ideas for me before I mess them up? Thanks for your help!
