My Grant ancestors came from Scotland to Nova Scotia, Canada.

James John Grant, son of Archibald Lewis Grant (1783 - ?) & Margaret McPherson (1742-?)
b. 1764, Scotland;
d. 1825, (drowned) Richmond, Cape Breton, NS, Canada

married 1792, Guysborough, NS. Canada to

Susannah Amelia Grant, dau of John Alexander Grant (1740-1790) & Harriet Jane Bruce (1745-?)
b. 1767 Feb 22, Inverness-Shire, Scotland;
d. 1871 Nov 15, Grantville, Cape Breton, NS, Canada

Their daughter,
Harriet Jane Grant, b. 1793, Guysborough, NS, Canada
d. 1882 Mar 19, Grantville, Cape Breton, NS, Canada (Yes, there is still a town, Grantville, there!)

married 1819 Nov 15, Arichat, Isle Madame, Cape Breton, NS, Canada to

James Proctor, son of Loyalist John Proctor
b. 1794 Nov 5, (prob. Guysborough, NS, Canada);
d. abt 1881

Their daughter,
Ann Proctor married William Maskill (Maskell) at Arichat, Isle Madame, Cape Breton, NS, Canada.
The family removed to Lot #45 (Souris), Prince Edward Island, between 1861 and 1881. Following William's death in 1890, Ann (Proctor) Maskell emigrated to Boston, MA to live with the children who had previously left PEI to settle in Massachusetts.

William and Ann are my great-great-grandparents, so the Grant lineage are my 3g-grandparents and back. I would love to hear from anyone else researching this line.
