I am looking for African American Gibson/Gipson/Gibbson. Earliest info of my g-grandfather I have is Andre Gibson abt 1866 married Adele Brown abt 1867 . Adele Brown was on 1880 census for St. James, Louisiana she was 13yrs old. I can't find any info on Andre Gibson. My grandfather Emanuel Gibson b 1891 in St. James, La. I found 1920 census that listed him as Mormel Gibbson .... I don't know if someone just read the records wrong or what... Please help...
