I've had some more good luck with my Prussian line lately. I'd be very grateful for any opinions on the occupation that's listed for my gg-grandfather in four of his children's baptism records. I put them up at:

I think it's maybe Ackerbürger - citizen farmer? But since my German is non-existant, I thought I'd ask for help.

TIA!

I think it's Ackerbürger as well.
Yes
Ackerbürger (Ackerbuerger) : farmer in a town who has all the rights of a citizen (therefore this term was never used in villages). This seems to be a very specialized and antiquated term; I've seen "farming citizen" and "farming burgher," even "field-citizen,"
This is my g-g-grandfather who emigrated when he was 50 years old to Chicago. I think he worked as a laborer the rest of his life. I have a lot of the immigrant generation who come straight off of farms in Europe to Chicago - it must have been a very difficult transition.

Danke vielmals for all the help.
Ackerbürger is correct. A farming citizen of a town. (Acker: field, acre, Bürger: citizen, townsman). This term is very common in church records.
