I am trying to find out if my gr.gr. grandmother remarried after my grandfather died in the Civil War. Her name was Mary Kersey Land. Six of her children along with grandmother Rachel Casey moved to Hamilton Co. Florida around 1880. There has not been anything found on Mary since 1870 in Wilcox Co. GA. Any help is welcomed

If there are any GRD members out there in WARRENTON I could use a courthouse look-up of CODY deeds and estate records.

Thanks,

Luckie.

Hi,

I am searching for any information about my g-g-g grandfather & his wife and family. His name was Enoch J. Moore & he was married to Keziah or Kissiah ?. They moved to Texas sometime prior to 1850. Their daughter, Elizabeth Adeline Moore was born in Georgia (county unknown) in 1825. Enoch and Keziah both state in later census' that they were both born in S. Carolina, but that all of their children were born in Georgia. The names of some of their other children were: Harriet born 1837. OR (son) born 1839, Mary, born 1841 and GW, born 1839. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes!! Hey, Cuz!!
I was on your Our Georgia Roots site and saw her name there; wondered then if that was the same Farrel I was just in touch with a few weeks back. Small World!!

BTW.. Our Georgia Roots is really, really nice. I see that you have a Mack DORSEY in your family. Was he from Henry/Fulton, GA? I also have a Mack DORSEY who was a brother to my great grandmother Martha Jane DORSEY who married my paternal great grandfather, John Wesley TALIAFERRO. I have not been very successful tracing my DORSEY/JACKSON line. Martha's parents were Wiley JACKSON and Silvey DORSEY. Martha and Mack (possibly twins) and Lucy used the DORSEY name; other children William, Sidney, Stephen, and Wiley used JACKSON. Then their was a daughters Polly CRAWFORD and Roda ALLEN. I got the names of all of Martha's brothers and sisters from one single Freedmans Bank entry. Incredible find... and another great resourse!!!!

Also I see your ancestors were affiliated with the A.M.E. Church. Well, my grandfather John Robert TALIAFERRO and his father John Wesley TALIAFERRO were initerant A.M.E. ministers. They spent most of their lives traveling around GA ministering in different circuits which is why they are scattered all over the state in the census records.

Hi, Farrel. We were emailing back and forth a few weeks ago regarding the SLATONS, GATES AND THOMPSONS in Meriwether. Nice to see you here.

I'm heading to Atlanta the week of July 26th. Would love to grab coffee/tea with any GRD Members in the area.

The goal is to get to Wilkes Co. on the 30th for some local root digging!:-)
