My greatest find was the family connection of my husbands great grandfather. We knew a little about him and where he came from but throught Genes was able to make connection with a cousin in the Uk that had lots of information.
The best was while on holiday in England last year we were able to met him and his wife, so exciting.

my greatest find was genes reunited i dont know what i would have done without it has opened doors for me and helped me discover family i knew was around but has bought them all closer
I agree with you about Genes Reunited as I've just made contact with another branch of the family who I recently found on Genes Reunited.
I never thought I would ever know my father's side of the family in the UK, the descendants of the people that my g-grandfather left behind when he emmigrated to Canada. I didn't know anything about my g-grandfather and neither did my father, I only had a name and a marriage record and that he had left the family shortly after my grandfather's birth. When I joined genes I had found my g-g-grandfather on the census' and followed the family back to Buckinghamshire. I thought that was all I would ever know, just names and dates, but I was in for a wondrful surprise when cousins began to contact me through genes. Now I know more about what happened to my g-grandfather's siblings and their descendants. I have a whole set of cousins I never knew, I just wished my father had lived long enough to know them too. So for me, the directons was 'forward" instead of backward for my greatest find.
