WELCOME TO GENEALOGYWISE VOLUNTEER GROUP

Hello GenealogyWise Volunteers, Thank you so much for joining the group. It will take me a little while to get the group set up, however, during that time if there is a certain thing you would like to volunteer for a free position please let me know by leaving a message in the comment wall , or message me. I am planning on making discussion folders with different things we need volunteers for. If when I get done putting up the folders you still do not see what you would like to do, please make your own discussion folder with the information in it. Thank you again for offering to Volunteer. To me volunteering is one of the greatest gifts you can give of yourself to help another.
Have a Great Day

Hi Declan

James sr. immigrated here in 1900 and James A. in 1901.  Later he returned to bring his mother, Isabella, and sister Jean in 1908.  I found them in the Alberta Territorial Census of 1916. A passenger listing showed he was a miner in 1901 and later he did work in the mines here around Lethbridge and Drumheller.  I think it was in "Find My Past" that I found him before but not sure.  Thanks will give "Scotland's People" a try.   Helen

Hi Declan

I have been helping my Aunt Peg find info on her father.  His  name was James Adamson Ross of Forfar, Forfarshire, Scotland.  A couple of years ago I found his birth but just as I was about to print it our power shut down because of thunder.  Since then I have had problems trying to find it again.  His birth date is 03 Mar 1881

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi Debbie

I live in Alberta, Canada and will help anyone look up family here.  Also I can do other provinces of Canada.  Because of my own grandfather and the Royal Canadian Legion I have done some research on WW1 members of our troops.   Hope I can help others find their families who immigrated here.

You'll need a full version of Adobe Acrobat Debbie. Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard is going to be the cheapest option if you don't already have a full version.

Hi all, I can try and help out with the Swedish churchbooks on Genline; The Swedish Census' 1890, 1900, 1970 and 1980; different sources for the Swedish emigrants going to the US; such as the Cd's Emibas / Emgrant Popular. Well - just ask and I'll see if I can help out!

Debbie, I haven't volunteered for anything specific, because I don't seem to find anything I feel meets my "talents." As a retired copy editor for a text-book publisher, I have some research skill, but I am very new to genealogy. The only people on my family tree that meet "Genealogical Proof Standards" at this time are my husband and I (we have official copies of our births and of our marriage) because our research is still too new. I continue to look at your list, to see what I am able to be useful in volunteering for.

Debbie,

I'm still interested. Just need to get more info since I've not done this before. Also need to be reminded what I volunteered for. It's been a few weeks and I've forgotten.
