as I understand it which requires a date to be of the form

dd MMM yyyy

where MMM is the 3 letter abbreviation of the date.

I would suggest using Text Edit or TextWrangler to lop off the -00 so that you end up with

2 DATE 1846-03

which should import as Mar 1846.

If you do this in TextWrangler you'd search for

-00\r

and replace it with

\r

this will only take the -00 that are at the end of a line

Here is a sample of one of the date fields in question:
1 BIRT
2 DATE 1846-03-00
2 PLAC Holland

As you expected the format is yyyy-mm-dd, but the day (dd) is 00 which is not meeting some validation rule (e.g. dd must be between 01-31).

2 DATE yyyy-mm-dd

where mm would be a month number an dd a month day or is it some other format. Can you copy and paste a DATE line from the GEDCOM file here?

Comment by Dave Glogowski on October 26, 2009 at 9:02am: I recently purchased Reunion and started populating my database by downloading my 800+ records from Ancestry.com using the GEDCOM export/import capability. However, I ran into a problem dealing with many of the dates. Apparently Ancestry.com translates a date with just month and year to "yyyy-mm-00". The 00 day is not being interpreted by Reunion and as such leaves the date in the numeric format (yyyy-mm-00).

Any suggestions to properly import these dates to have Reunion display and store in the dd-mm-yyyy format?

One idea I had was to use TextEdit to modify the GEDCOM file prior to importing into Reunion, but I'm not sure of ramifications or what to change the "-00" to.
