I did a very basic tree in my children's baby books. The children, my husband & I, each of our parents and grandparents. Nothing further. However, I have done several Family History scrapbooks. I start with the one couple, tell their story, including their names, occupations, date of marriage, where they were from, and any children. Then I follow which ever of their children we descend from. Again, telling the story at that ancestors level - who they married, what their occupation was, where they lived, and the names of their children. I include as many old photos as I can - for my gt grandmother, I have photos of 9 of the 12 children born to her parents. I also have a photo of her husband and each of their 4 children. From there I follow my grandfather and have pictures of 20 of his 21 children (one died as an infant, so no photo exists). I did a separate page for each of the children and a little blurp about them. The book has become a great keepsake and a really easy way to tell the family story in a way that the kids and others are interested in. I have done Family History scrapbooks for my dad's family line and my husband's family line too.
