Hi Liz, I joined Ancestry in the U.K. Though I have not found the Fishers yet, I have found the Lawrence's back to James' grandfather William Lawrence who married Mary Pocklington; William Lawrence died in Snaith in 1839.So I have made one connection that puzzled me. And have been able to trace the Pocklington's back to the early 17th century.

Hi Liz, just seen the comment wall. I went up to Lily Farm and got a few photo's. It looks fairly big, compared with what most people lived in at the turn of the century, why the Bakers moved to Scearts, which is half the size, I can't guess. I have found that one of the George Fishers b1902ish, is actually Ernest George, it makes me wonder if anyone used there actual name. Gary

Hi Judi, Annie Priscilla Lockyer was born in Axbridge registration District in the September quarter of 1863, volume 5c page 629 if you want to order the certificate. Perhaps her mother was the person in the portrait? Have you found James Pocklington Lawrence on any censuses? that might give you a lcue as to birthplace. Unfortunately I can't see ay connection with our Wedmore Fishers though.

Thank you for your responce Liz. No, How I wish it was Annie Pricilla. but this painting was dated 13 yrs before Annie P. was born, Annie came to the .U.S. when she was19 and married a Thomas Pocklington Lawrence (born in Illinois), whose Father was James Pocklington Lawrence born also in England, but where?

Hi Judi, written like that, could be either...I would guess that she was a Fisher who married a Lockyer. If it was me, I'd be tempted to look for a Fisher/Lockyer marriage & see if the wife of the couple is Annie Pricilla.

Am doing research for a friend whose grear grandmother was from Axbridge ,Somerset. Annie Pricilla Lockyer. He has a small portrait of an Ann Fisher with the name Lockyear in parenthases and the year 1850, no other information available. Is she a Fisher married to a Lockyer or vise versa?
