As you work with the program, the help that is offered is more focused on where you are in the program.

Here are links to the Family Tree Maker Knowledge Base Websites (Online Help Center):

In using the Keyword Search, use one or two keywords for that search. For example, if you have an error message, a key word that you might use, is one of the words in the Error Message.

There is an Online Video for Version 2009 here:

Family Tree Maker 2009 Feedback Website:

If you use this link, please provide some detailed feedback to Family Tree Maker 2009. You will probably not receive feedback from them, but the developers do read the feedback.

Earlier Version of Family Tree Maker

There are a number of User to User Message Boards. This first link will take you to a list of Family Tree Maker GenForums based on the problem that you are trying to resolve:

When posting a message on any of these message boards, it is MOST HELPFUL to mention the Version of Windows that you are using, and the Version of Famliy Tree Maker that you are uisng. You can determine that by clicking on Help, then About Family Tree Maker. That will help the Users help you.

It is also helpful to be specific as to what the issue is or the question is, based on what you see in Family Tree Maker. If there is an Error Message, please provide the specific Error Message. What you see and what you expect to see is also helpful.

I bought myself FTM2010 for Christmas. I am upgrading from version 16. Wow, what a big difference. I've only started playing with it but it seems to be a pretty steep learning curve. I will eventually get the hang of it but it just does not seem as easy or as intuitive as V16. My first gripe is it did not come with a manual! The "Getting Started" pdf is a help but I hate reading manuals on-line.

Yes.

If you have additional questions, please start a new discussion. It's easier in the long run to reply and keep track of replies.

Thank you,

Russ

TY Russ.
P.S. So miss SL, too. I'll be back ... soon... working on new W7 computer, with more up to date cooling. Love my water-cooled system, but the virtual world needs just a little more. --GJ

GeneJ -- Please have Eileen Start a New Discussion on thie Group - Others may be interested as well.

Those options will allow her to generate a PDF file to be created to be attached to an email or posted to GenWise

Hi Russ and other member:
Hoping someone might help GenWise member, Eileen N. Bernier. She's using FTM 2009. We are having a tough time creating a Family Group Sheet (FGS) from her FTM project. Specifically, we want to the FGS in some electronic form --pdf, word, etc.. so that Eileen can attach same to queries she posts on GenWise.
FTM provides her with options, Print, Share, Export.
Eileen's not a techie and I'm not FTM literate.
Any assistance is appreciated. Clicking on her name, above, will take you to Eileen's personal page. --GJ

Hello - just to introduce myself. I'm new to Family Tree Maker having been given FTM 2009 (UK) in August and recently updated to FTM 2010. I managed to transfer my old file from 'Family Tree v.3' via GEDCOM via MyHeritage freeware. Have added lots of info. since and used many of the Ancestry hints (leaves) but am still having a number of problems which I will list as separate discussions.
Greetings to all (and thanks in anticipation).

I did put the pictures in the scrapbooks, I don't know how to make them show up in the family group sheets.

Barb -- Please remember that Photos go in the Scrapbook feature. There is an ICON on the Family Tree Maker tool bar for that. Hope that helps. --- Russ
