Wondering if there is a way to search for a key word or something to the effect? I was working on a number of siblings over the past month and can remember typing a note about a town I located them in. I didn't incorporate it as a fact at the time, because I was trying to find out more about the town since it no longer exists as that name. Now more recently I went searching for historical information about the town, found some interesting points that I want to include with the earlier note and can't remember who it's applied to. I have looked high and low and am either missing it or it's not a current capability to search for a keyword or words within the notes. Can someone enlighten me please?! Thanks much! Amy

Amy,

You didn't mention what Version of Family Tree Maker you are using.

The find command should find that word (town).

Can't give you more detail, as the find command is in different places based on version.

Sorry Russ - am working with the 2009 version. Kept going through all the tools not seeing a Find - didn't think to try Ctrl F. I see that works on a single record - how do I apply it across the database? Thanks!!
Amy,

Did you look at the Edit Menu? You can get to that Menu from any Workspace. Find and Replace would be the choice. When that window opens, you enter the word you are looking for, and click on the FIND button, as that is what you wanted to do, right? You would NOT put anything in the Replace field, NOR click on the Replace button.

Hope that helps,

Russ
Is it on ancestry. com because if it is on the family tree you click on the person profile that you think it is it will have every that you or the person who put it up there it will show you all the information that is there you will not only see citations but you will see notes . Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for.
Barbara,

Can't answer your question, nor have I seen a reply from Amy, but this Group is for the Family Tree Maker program, so I guessed that is what the question was about. Hopefully if Amy returns here, she will let us know.

Thank you,

Russ
