Yes, I have both on my PC. I have both on a Windows 7 & on XP & Vista
Permalink Reply by Barbara Butler on April 17, 2012 at 8:28pm Thank you.. I have windows 7 too put ftm 2010 first - want to put my ftm 16 on it too. Going to try it
I ran both for a very long time for the same reason - I hated to give up FTM16 because it was so familiar. At Christmas I gave up on PCs and switched to Apple, so I had to finally give up FTM16 and I have been fine without it. The familiarity of FTM16 kept me from enjoying the functions and versatility of the new program.

realized all the sources and info I was doing wrong.

Yes, you can have both versions on your computer at the same time. I have Version 15, 2010, 2011, and 2012 on my PC. Now, I don't use them, but have them. I do this so that if and when I receive a question about any of those versions I am help the other user out.
You just can't work on the Same Family file.

Permalink Reply by Ellen Healy on August 24, 2012 at 6:32pm I hope I'm in the right discussion area for this question- Since Ancestry isn't coming out with a new 2013 version soon, is it worth purchasing the 2012 version for all the bells and whistles (I have 2010) or should I wait for the next new version?
Permalink Reply by Russ Worthington on August 24, 2012 at 6:46pm Ellen,
There were over 100 new features between FTM2010 and FTM2011. There have been many new features in FTM2012. I have been using Family Tree Maker since Version 3.4 and I think FTM2012 is the best version to date and I use it daily.

Permalink Reply by Ellen Healy on August 24, 2012 at 7:03pm Thanks, Russ. I was hoping you would reply. So it sounds like the investment is worth it. As soon as I get my new laptop- hopefully next month- I will do that!

From what I have read, FTM2012 will have some new features added. OR should I say MORE new features. FTM2012 has had a couple of updates WITH new features.
Good luck,
Russ
Permalink Reply by Ellen Healy on August 24, 2012 at 7:07pm THere is not an update from 2010, right? I have to purchase the 2012 version complete.
Permalink Reply by Russ Worthington on August 24, 2012 at 7:11pm Ellen,
There have been updates to FTM2010, but none of the new features in FTM2011 nor FTM2012.
FTM2012 is the way to go.
