Hi   I have been trying for some time to find grandfathers birth certificate but as his surname has been changed off and on. It is hard to make sure I have the right one.  He was known here as Charles Henry (Harry) Louden.  I was in contact with a military researcher who sent me his army papers and found out his actual surname was Louder and his father was James Louder.  1901 has him at the Aldershott Academy under this name and everything fits with info I had before.  I can see where his name would change because of his signature.  Just last week I found him on a passenger list coming back from WW1 with his regiment the Fort Garry Horse to Canada but now his surname is Lauden.  Then I found him on another passenger list from Durban, S. Africa 1906  returning to England under the same name.  Again this matches other info.  According to family history he was born at sea when the family came back to England from Scotland. The 1891 UK Census for James Louder or Louden shows Harry as a 4 year old born at Bethal Green, London.  Harry was born on 03 Mar in 1888

but he claimed his birth on his Military papers for UK and Canada as Redhill Surrey.  I have not had any luck with UK gov. archives either.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Julia,

thanks so much for your help. Yes, this is the Evans marriage of Evan Evans and Mary Hughes. I have found it before and  they ar parents of Winifred H Evans. It seems Winifred is listed as HANNAH as you found below. As some point Evan was a hairdresser after he was a furnace man. It appears  they kept this occpation going - as it is on both BRADLEY adn EVANS side of the family!

  Yes, I have looked on familysearch for Birth of George, but could ot locate him!

Winifred Hannah was only 19 when she married George (about a 24 years ages gap) but she put her age up to 21 on the marriage certificate The couple married in 1877.. After Winifred H was widowed she married again to an Irish man O'Mara in Australia and then died in 1938 in Brisbane QLD Aust.

 I will have a look at shipping link you gave me when I find time. They cannot hide forever...thanks searching and fingers crossed! I was hoping to find info  for my Dad as his mother (my grandma) was a Bradley and she married and Egan. Egan's are hard to find too. I am researching in honour of my Dad - he is terminally ill and it  is a difficult time.

Nothing new found on John or George Bradley yet.  

 

This could possibly relate to George Charles Bradley’s wife – Winifred Anna/Hannah’s parents & family?

 

Marriage of Evan Evans to Mary Hughes 12 Oct 1840 in Collegiate, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire – parents Edward Evans & Benjamin Hughes – but can’t find them 1841 to verify anything so no way of validating this is your relatives.  They seem to show again in 1851…

1871 – Not sure if her father Evan remarried to Margaret Kraven/Craven in 1863? It appears to be the same Evan Evans who appears with wife Margaret (from Armargh Ireland) & children on the 1871 & 1881 census.   They have children James E, Robert E, David W, George H, possible half sibling Margaret Craven also on 1871 census, and addition of Emmanuel on 1881 census.  Living in Wednesfield, Staffs.  Evan died by 1891 as Margaret is a widow with her sons.  

 

1871- There is an 18 year old Hannah Evans from Willenhall with cousin Elizabeth Wilks, age 15 from Bilston, Staffs?

 

Do you use www.familysearch.org ? it’s a free site where this marriage was found – lots of Birmingham records too but nothing for birth of George Charles Bradley yet.

 

Immigrant lists? Some of these may help.

H!i I am looking for Bradley/Nash family from Birmingham or around that area. John Bradley was a hairdresser and wife Elizabeth NASH.  George Charles Bradley born Birmingham (as he stated on his marriage in Aust 1877) It appears the family may have come out to Aust when George was approx 7 yrs old and he ws born approx 1834. I am not sure if he had siblings. Hope to find anything at all with the English conection with BRADLEY/NASH family
