Joshua and Abigail from Delaware.  Were they from Kent County, DE.  We have Ellises who owned land in both Kent Co, MD and Kent Co., DE

I'm going to feel bad if I find out more about them on the web than about myself.

John B.......

You might discover more about Joshua and Abigail by Googling them.  I'm assuming you have the Google search engine on your computer.  Put their names in and anything else pertinent in the search space.

Do you know where I might discover more about these two?And their ancestors?

Joshua and Abigail came from Delaware where they married before going to NC.  This Joshua is not of the same line as mine.

County/state boundaries changed all the time, placing these folks in different counties and states though they may not have moved at all.

I have a g4grandfather Joshua Ellis from the NC area who had a son named James who lived from 1772 until 1853. Joshua married an Abigail Knowles.

From 1750 to the 1790s...to quote Ransom Ellis..".they lived in what is now Warren County (Granville, then Bute, then Warren) and Chatham Counties, NC.  Credible evidence supports a conclusion that these Ellises descended from Edward Ellis, immigrant to Surry Co., VA by 1636.  Three of the men who came to Warren Co. in the 1750s from Surry Co., VA were John Ellis I, Edward Ellis and Joshua Ellis."  There is a connection between the Ellis, Murphree, Bynum, and Marchbanks families in the settlement in Pendleton Dist. from 1780 to 1810.  My connection to Ellis/Murphree has been verified by matching DNA with a person who is also from the Ellis/Murphree bunch.  We got together, compared gedcoms, and voila!  :-)

Brownie, do you know where these Ellises are from?

Correction to the below:  It should read Grady/Lillamae Younger Ellis (not Grady).
