My Jan Arianse Sip (sometimes called Johannes) married Joanna Idens van Voorst 23 APR 1684 in New York, New York. The marriage is recorded as: Met attestatie Van Bergen. Johannes Adriaenszen Sips, j. m. en Johanna Idens Van de Voorst, j. d. 23 April. [1684] (Trans: Married with certificate from Bergen. Johannes Adriaenszen Sips, unmarried man and Johanna Idens Van de Voorst, unmarried woman 23 April [1684]) Source: Liz DuBois, "Records of the Reformed Dutch Church in New Amsterdam/New York - Marriages," database, Lorine McGinnis Schulze, Olive Tree Genealogy (http://www.olivetreegenealogy.com/nn/church/: accessed 18 December 2009), ; citing The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record published 1890 and 1940.

Also thier bans were published April 22 1684 Bergen with a certificate to New York. I believe he is the son of Claas Arianse and that the father of Claas was named Arien or Arie

I have Jan (Johannes) Arianse Sip born 24 May 1662 in New York/Nieuw Amsterdam. Source: Charles H. Winfield, History of the County of Hudson, New Jersey, from its earliest settlement to the present time (New York: Kennard & Hay Stationery M'fg. and Printing Co., 1874), page 524

Henricus m. Annetje Bayard Nov 22 1691

Antje m. Symon Jacobse van Winkle 15 Dec 1675

Maritje m. Sibi Opdyke 13 Oct 1678

You can find my ancestors at www.geneaweb.org/bergsmit
I was born in valkenburg in 1956

My fathers last name is ladeur
My mothers is Drenthe-Drente
I have traced 2 of my Dutch ancesotrs back to their arrival in the New World
Pieter Pieterse Hagewout arrived on the Spotted Cow in 1660, settled in Staten Island
Juriaen Tomassen (VanRiper) also arrived on the Spotted Cow, but 3 years later - 1663, settled in Bergen, New Jersey
See my above post for some sourced info on Juriaen Tomassen, do you have any info that I do not?
On my mother's side, my 4th great grandparents Otto (born in 1803-1885) and Cornelia Van Heuklon (1808-1885) were from Rotterdam, Netherlands. They came to America in 1847 with their children, and settled in Appleton, Wisconsin. Otto was one of the first pioneers to settle there. They had 18 children, and according to a newspaper clipping my grandmother gave me from 1983, I heard that there are over 1,000 decendants living in the midwest. Their son James, (my third great grandpa) served in the civil war. His wife (my third great grandmother) Mary Van Ooyen was born in Holland. Her parents John Van Ooyen, Antonia Steenis Van Ooyen, and grandparents Corniele and Julia Steenis were also born in the Netherlands.
Great to see your post.  I am researching the Steenis and Van Oyen families of Platte Co., NE.  Oren or Ora Van Oyen and Mary Steenis were both born in the Netherlands.  I have just started looking into these people.  Their daughter Bertha married Henry L. Thompson.  I have no idea where they were in Wisconsin before coming to Platte Co., Nebraska, perhaps Appleton.
Wow I haven't been on here for a long time. Hello Ruby! Thank you for responding to my post! I really don't know a whole lot about the Van Ooyen and Steenis family in my tree. Can you tell me more about  Oren/Ora Van Oyen and Mary Steenis? Do you know if they are related to my family? Distint realitives? :) Thank you!

Annemarie,

I joined the facebook group back in June of last year and recieved help from a genalogist with the result of multiple generations going back to the 1550s on my Van Heuklom ancestors and also my 4th great grandmother Cornelia going even further to the year 1500. It's an awesome group!

Genealogie Online is a website where Dutch genealogists can publish their genealogical data and images. With nearly 10 million records this is the largest of its kind in The Netherlands which can be searched freely.

The Dutch website Genealogie Online is now also available in English and German!
My Dutch ancestors are Joost Calelszen and Styntje Jans who married about 1655 in New Amsterdam. They used VanSyssen and my gggrandmother was Juliet Van Sise, b. 1818 in Brooklyn.
