Another key is keeping track of additions to the FS Record Search Pilot.
It is growing quickly from worldwide indexing and digitization projects. If they were shiny new books on a library shelf each week, all of the genealogy newsletters and magazines would be raving about it!

I can hardly keep away from the site you recommended: http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home
Thank you ever so much. Although it is beta, I have been able to locate information on two ancestors so far.

I discovered that Russell Felder's wife [Jalura Glover] pre-deceased him, having died in 1916, perhaps also a victim of the plague. I was pleasantly surprised to find her father's name as part of the documentation on the site. Gotta run, I hear the site calling out to me! LOL. Thanks a semi-trailer load.
