Ggrandfather Patrick Ready was supposedly from Cty Cork. I've been told the name is usually spelled REIDY in Ireland, although variations like REDDY, REIDY, and REID, are used as another name for red or someone who has a ruddy complexion. Confusing is that there are other names, even like Flynn, that in early Gaelic, mean red or a ruddy complexion. I'm wondering where in Cty Cork these names might be found.

I am looking for any information about my g-g-grandparents, John Haney (d. 1878 Lexington, KY) and Jane kane (d. 1885 Lexington, KY). I have no idea if my ancestors immigrated before or after marriage, or even what year they arrived on US soil. Their son, James A. Haney, was born here in Kentucky in 1863. The only thing I know for sure, is that my father was certain his ancestors came from "County Cork, Ireland".

Hi Folks; My name is Alan Long, I live in Dublin Ireland. My Father Joe Long was Born in Patrick Street, in Cork. In Aug 1915. He use to tell me the story of when the ENGLISH Black & Tans closed off Patrick Street, at set the street on fire . After one of there units had been Ambushed.
All his family the Longs, and O'Sullivans came from Cork, Ballycurreen.I have done a lot of research , but need to do a lot more.
I spent nearly all my younger days in summer down in cork, in Crosshaven.
Any good websites with Cork Information woukld be a great help.
The 1911 Cork census are now availible for FREE on the National Archive site.
Regards; Alan
