Hi I have a printer problem.I print a lot of photo's for my scrapbooks and they come out dark. When I check them on the monitor their perfect, but they don't print the way they look.Do I need a new printer? Kathleen
Hi, Kathleen. It sounds like your color calibration might be off. If you want to message me your printer model and any information you have on your computer, I can see if I can help you get things aligned better. No promises as I haven't done a lot in this area, but I can see if I can't help you make things better.
Hi My printer is Lexmark X5150 I have windows 1p on my computer could you tell me what else you need to know?
Kathleen
OK, that's enough for now. Here's what I'd recommend trying in order you should try them:

1) In the Print Properties dialog (which you should be able to bring up from the Print dialog), make sure that your paper type matches the paper you're using. Mismatches here can make the printer use too much ink for the paper which would make things darker.

2) Try cleaning the nozzles. To do this, make sure there's paper in the printer and press the Options button on your printer until "Cartridges" appears on the screen, then press the right arrow until "Clean" appears on the display, then press the Select button. Try to print out an image, and see if it's better. If it's not, you can try cleaning the nozzles up to twice more.

3) Try wiping the contacts clean. Rather than summarize it, I'm going to point you to the printer manual for this one. It's on pages 44 & 45. If you don't have the manual, you can download one at http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/x5150/eng/ug.pdf

4) If you've got a spare set of ink cartridges, you can try swapping those in and seeing if that improves the print quality - particularly if this is still your first set of ink cartridges or you've had fewer problems with dark images with previous ink cartridges.

Hopefully, one of these should do the trick. If not, there's some more things we can try. Also, I apologize if I was either too technical or explained too much - like many techies I slip far too easily into acronyms and technobabble, and sometimes I then overcompensate for that, too.

Andy
Thanks Andy I will try all of the above and get back to You.Don't apologize you were justt right.

Hi, Kathi! Did any of these things help fix your problem?

have a compaq presario v2030us, also have passbook that i keep our deadpeople records on (genealogy-RM, pictures etc). my problems my laptop wont reconzine or run the passport half the time. the passport runs ok on my pc and i have changed cords to the passport to check it. i have reinstalled the usb port drivers and it helped some but not much. any suggestions
I HAD a "copy" of a disc, Melbourne General Cemetery (Victoria Australia), it stopped working, so I deleted the boot file and bought a new one now when I try and play/open it it wont work I keep getting "Run Time Error 3051"( now the short name this dics is known by is MGC) the rest of the message reads The Microsoft Jet Database cannot open the file D:\systemcontrol.mdb it is already opened exclusively by another user or you need permission to view its data" now I've done a search of my computer using mgc and didn't find any files, I've also looked for .mdb files, and that didn't bring up any mgc stuff either. My tech guy is away for another 2 weeks, and this is driving me absolutely NUTS. Can someone PLEASE help...
Finally got through to the publishers of the disc, and problem solved, thanks anyway.

Yes, it spews extra pages, and it stops up all the time-and it is new. HP. Will get out the model etc. tomorrow. I talked to a friend at a reunion in Oct., and hers does the same thing. Runs 2 or 3 pages then stops up. It took me over a month to get it going wireless, with tech folks from HP again and again. Finally the right amount of turn this off, turn this on- worked, with the right numbers. (It did not like the ones on the back of my modem) Going online I discovered they have had this same problem over 2 years, and no patch to fix it.  It simply does not like the Modem AT & T uses.
