Richard Chadwell ( -1661) of Saugus, Lynn, etc.; his brother Thomas Salem, Lynn and Charlestown

Charles Henry Pope, _The Pioneers of Massachusetts_ (1908) called Richard Chadwell a shipwright. He married 22 July 1649 to Katharine Presbury of Sandwich.
Richard Chadwell's will calls out his "son-in-law" Lodewick Hawkse and a "cousin," Thomas, son of Moses Chadwell.
About Richard's brother, Thomas Caldwell, Pope wrote, "Thomas, bro. of Richard, shipwright, Salem, 1636; of Lynn; propr. 1638. Rem. tho Sandwich before 1645. Res. at Charlestown in 1670; ret. to Lynn. [See George Davis.] Abigail, wife of Thomas, of Charlestown, made will 8 June, prob. 19 June, 1683; beq. to her husband; to sister Ann Pearson of Piscatag; to gr. son Joseph Goose and his sister Susanna Crosse; to sister Wheeler's daus.; refers to Joseph Goose's agreement, dated July 28, 1682. ... He d. 27 Feb. 1683. Will dated 25 Feb., inv. taken June 18, 1684, beq. to son Moses; to M.'s wife Sarah and son Thomas; to dau. Ruth Needham."

Found it..Nice thank you
I wonder which Lodowick this refers to? Lodowick[1] whom was born (we think) around 1635 was the most likely to have that paticular spelling (Hawkse) and most others carried Hoxie, Hoxsie or Hoxsey. Also Mr Chadwell refers to him as "son-in-law" and Lodowick[1] was only married once to Mary Presbury
I'm as sure as I can be that it was Lodowick[1] (m. Mary Presbury). I'm intriged by Richard's will, perhaps one day someone will pull the entire entry. The abstracts of his will make no mention of a "son" John Presbury--believed the man who married Dorcas Bessey of Sandwich.
It is the latter connection to my line, I seek to prove or disprove. You can read the posting I left at Maine genealogy group about my Presbury challenge, see http://bit.ly/ZWlwy .
Hoping to keep that challenge more direct, I didn't post that John Presbury (m. Dorcas Bessey) is thought to have been the son of the earlier John of Sandwich, nor did I say more about the Sandwich family).
Several years ago, I developed a set of files about Richard Chadwell. Was particularly interested in his connection as a shipwright. While I didn't mention it the challenge, William Presbury/Presson/Preston had two sons who were shipwrights at Newbury. One of them, in particular, Edward Presbury, had a fair amount written about his activities.
Separately also, for the past several years, I've wanted to learn more about a Dorcas Prisbury of Lynn m. 1709 to Thomas Brown/e, also of Lynn. He (Thomas Browne) was b. in 1685, son of Joseph and Sarah (Jones) Brown/e. Thomas and Dorcas named their first born, a son, William.
Thank you for supporting the Chadwell group. --GJ
