Comment by Jamie E Smith on May 31, 2011 at 8:44am: My great grandmother was Elizabeth Ann Carter, her father was William Sherman Carter and mother was Mary Florence Rudd. She was raised in Arkansas, her parents were from Weakley County, TN. William Sherman Carter's father was William H Carter who might have been from Virginia and that's where the trail ends. The Carters intermarried frequently with the Rudd & Powers families of Weakley and Carroll county. Would love to share information with anyone.
