Hi Mark, Thank you for allowing me to join your Brittle group. I think it is possible that we are both descended from Thomas Brittle and Mary Dalton. My line is;
Thomas Brittle born in Arnold 1703 married to Mary Lee
William Brittle born in Gedling 1739 married to Mary Mew
John Brittle born in Gedling 1771 married to Mary Bush
Thomas Brittle born in Gedling 1796 married Sarah Cree
Sarah Brittle born in Ruddington 1849 married George Mew
Kate Octavia Mew born in Westminster 1882 married Thomas Julius Caesar
Thomas George Julius Caesar married Olive Mary Leach who were my parents.
I do not believe Mary Mew from Nottingham married to William Brittle is related to my George Mew from the Isle of Wight but I am still looking into this. Also trying to find the link between Thomas 1703 and his possible parents Thomas Brittle and Mary Dalton. It would be great to hear your thoughts. Thomas born 1796 was in the army from 1813 to 1833 and was an OUT Chelsea Pensioner. My great Grand Aunt his daughter Annie Brittle was Headmistress at Wadenhoe School in Northamptonshire for more than 40 years and has a brass plate memorial in the church with her details on it..
I am intrigued how Sarah Brittle and George Mew met. He was a policeman at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster when his first wife died and left him with 3 young daughters. Sarah was a child nurse in Warrickshire, either they knew each other through the Mew family or she answered an advert to be his children's Nanny and she later married him!!
Maybe some other Brittles will read this and be able to shed some light on the matter.
Best Wishes,
Brenda

Hello Mark,
Do your Brittle family have any connections with Essex as well?
Lesley.
