Hi Brian

Yes, these groups are a great way to connect. It makes a big difference to connect with fellow researchers.

I will post again on Facebook and see if I can generate some interest. :)

Hi Cheryl

i have been fortunate enough to link up with a couple of students from Australia and this has been great as we can pick each other's brains on an issue but importantly have found new friends.

when I look at the group site I am disappointed that more students don't join and post comments as I know that my contact with other Aussie students has been great. I also know that we are ready to help students from other countries who are doing Australian courses and maybe find us a little strange. Like my dog Lily Marlene we may bark but don't bite.

i guess my question is how can I connect with any student doing Australian courses offering to assist or simply to talk?

Willing to to discuss further.

cheers

brian

Just joined the group.  Am looking for Chambers that migrated from Belfast to South Australia in the  1880's and early 1900's.

Hi,

I am doing the Social media tools course. My ancestors migrated from England and Ireland to Australia from 1840s to 1910s.

The surnames I am researching are Le Breton, Britten, Baker, Simpson, Mulligan, Marzol, French and Hare

I am starting the Australian records in September for my elective courses.  I have a few relatives in my husband's family tree who have emigrated there some recently and others who moved there earlier, I am not sure whether they went to Australia during the Gold rush or were convicts.  I have still to try work that out.  I am hoping that this course will assist me as to where to search for information.
