When you join the group please make an introductory comment that tells us a little about yourself.

If you are able to offer help to others with lookups, tips, cemetery photos etc. please post a message in the Offers of Help by SKAS discussion forum.

If you need assistance please post check Offers of Help by SKAS discussion forum for relevant assistance and then post your request in the IF YOU WANT HELP/LOOK UPS POST IT HERE discussion forum.

If you are seeking information on a particular surname have a look for a group devoted to that surname.... if there is not one consider setting up a group....it's not an arduous task. Try using the Site Search on the Top Right Hand side of the page to find references to your surnames.

Please create and use the discussion forums to communicate with other members. There are only two discussions displayed - please use View All to browse through the whole list and find those of interest to you.

This group will be a year old in a week or two. I am preparing a post on my blog about GenealogyWise and have been reading through old messages and discussion board posts.

A theme that emerges is one of generosity - members of our group have gone to great lengths to help each other with lookups and suggestions. Thanks to each of you for your contributions. At the risk of offending others I am going to offer a special thanks to member Wayne who has put in amazing work on behalf of others.

I look forward to another year of demolishing (brickwalls that is).

I think most of us researchers do it by fits and starts as well Rosemary lol.I iwll have a dig around see if I can uncover anything.never know we may hook the tree up somewhere.

My father was a Dyer but he was born in 1900 and his father appears to have died before 1901 when his mother is listed as a widow. As she died in 1912 and my father in 1948 and his 2 sisters are also now gone we only have vague reminisces passed on by one of my aunts to my cousin. Not knowing the date of birth even of his father makes it really difficult to know where to start. We're also not convinced that there was actually a marriage as we've found no record of that either. I suppose another starting point would be the elder brother, William, but William Dyer was quite a common name in those parts. I tend to do the genealogy in "fits and starts" and will probably get into it when the mania hits me again lol

Just recently I have been following up with the name Perabo.A year or so back I discovered it was my gggrandmothers maiden name and she and her family came to Australia on the Caesar. Her father and 2 brothers passed away from Cholera b4 they arrived.
What I found out \last week was even tho they came from Germany (alot of Perabos there and Italy also) The origanal Perabo was actually from Spain.
If anyone else has a connection to the Perabo name please let me know.
