Photo storage, types of albums
I am trying to reorganize all of my family photos. My question is what is the best type of album and way of mounting the pictures.
Options I have seen are -
the scrapbook type where pictures can be mounted with photo corners. or using archival glue? using archival paper and page protectors.
the "pocket pages" that pictures go into individual pockets, archival materials
and I just saw a new version of the "magnet" albums, that say they are archival and photosafe materials. I wonder if these are safe. They would be great for some groups of pictures that I have what are all sizes and shapes and hard to use photo corners on, and not all the same size so a pocket page might not work.
Has anyone used the new magnet pages and how do they work. Can pictures be moved once they are put on the page.

I've not seen this product but I would be wary of anything that may need to be attached to the photo itself. The idea of the pocket pages is to enclose the photo in such a manner that it can be viewed on both sides without the need for handling. The photo is fully protected from finger prints for ever more. Most custodians of old family photos scan them and present copies in a new form of album leaving the old ones in the pockets merely as a storage system rather than for ongoing presentation. It's also a good idea to do this as you are then able to reproduce the album as many times as there are descendants who would like copies.
By the way 'My History' in the UK has an excellent range of the pockets if you decide to go down that route.
