Whatever contend including photos that have put on my Ancestry public trees was put there to share.

I would suggest if you don't want anything copied ,then don't put it there or make it private.

I'm looking for information on Flavin in Ontario at the moment, I saw familysearch showed my ancestors there but the information listed is scant. Would anyone have ancestry.com access and could maybe look up a few for me there as they are listed there too in church records??? I no longer have a subscription myself. Here's one just so you can see what I mean:

Hello Everyone. I hope someone can assist me with an occurring problem with Family Tree 2011. This is a new problem, and I have stayed patient until recently - enough is enough.

1. A profile will show a green leaf. When I click it on the leaf, I find "private trees." The search continues to spin and spin and spin and never stops. I can't select to ignore option to keep them from showing up over and over. You can't "ignore" a private tree, plus it the search just keeps scrolling in a circile. Is anyone having this problem?

2. When I look at a document or a tree, in a few seconds a quarter of the top page appears blank. I have to close the page and start over, which is very annoying. Is anyone having this problem?

3. When I try to add a photo to a profile, FTM closes down. I've signed in as administrator and sometimes it will allow me to add a photo and other times not.

These are the three main problems. There are more but these are the most annoying and time consuming, to the point I lose important information or I forget what I was doing to start.

I have checked for updates/patches and I'm told I'm up to date.

I have approximately 9500 profiles, 2500 marriages, and 58,000 KB (photos/documents)

If I purchased the FTM 2012, would it solve all of the above problems? All was well until recently. I'm not having any problems with other programs, or are they slow as family tree. Thanks
What to Do about Dit Namestag:www.genealogywise.com,2010-02-10:3463583:Topic:2285252010-02-10T21:08:10.277ZSarah Coleshttp://www.genealogywise.com/profile/StephanieHettich
I would like some help in solving an issue with how to enter some names in my Ancestry.com file. Presently, I am working on my son-in-law's gnealogy tree and ran across this rather unique situation. The surnames appear as "dit" in French Candian records. I had to look that up to find out what it even meant. Dit means "known as" so I have some people with their first, middle, and last names included along with "dit" for whom they were known as. I guess they changed their names for some…
I would like some help in solving an issue with how to enter some names in my Ancestry.com file. I guess they changed their names for some reason.

An example of this is seen in a man named Pierre Levesque who had several children each of whom changed or used a different last name. One is referred to as "Jacuqes Levesque dit LaFrance. My problem is where to enter the information. As Levesque is the original surname but not used as a middle name would I use it or LaFrance as an alternate name and not refer to this "dit" at all or enter Levesque into the first, middle name field and LaFrance into the surname field? I want to do it correctly and have it downloaded properly into a GEDCOM file to use in FTM2010 and Legacy. Does anyone have any suggestion on who to approach this dilemma?

Thanks,

Steph
LANGtag:www.genealogywise.com,2010-01-17:3463583:Topic:2209432010-01-17T05:49:47.466ZAlbertus Langhttp://www.genealogywise.com/profile/AlbertusLang

Hello,
I am new to genealogy research....just started researching my family last month. I have paid sub to ancestry US. I would like to know if you think sub. to the world edition will be worth the extra $. My husbands ggrandfather came to this country as a very young boy from Genoa, Italy....alone! Would it help in my research to have access to the World sub. We do not know his parents name.....just an approx birthdate...1840...for him.
Thanks,
In Ancestry is there a way to add a alternative name with out it creating a totaly new person ? A example would be the 1900 census shows a woman as Maria & the 1920 census show it as Mary. Thanks Dan
