where to find Ancestry's Terms & Conditions?
Links are at the bottom of nearly every non-record page.

that "lifting" any photo from another web-site, without the owner's written permission, and adding it to your Ancestry Family Tree is a violation of the Terms & Conditions?
It is. The T&C says "You should submit only content which belongs to you and will not violate the property or other rights of other people or organizations." Even when something is put on the internet, it is not free for the taking. You must get permission. To not get permission is stealing and you're not a thief, are you? This is a big problem on the family trees. Are you part of the problem?

My Family tree on Ancestry.com is public. I posted pictures on my tree of different family members, and now I see those pics on other peoples trees. I that considered alright?
Basically, you agreed to that by having a public tree.

What I'm talking about is finding a photo on another web-site, such as Dead Fred, Find A Grave, GenWeb, Genealogy Trails, etc. and "taking" it: saving it to your computer then uploading it to your tree without asking the owner/photographer's permission.

Instead. use the "Web Links" feature on your tree to create a link to the site where the photo is. It's easy and it's legal.

Quite frankly, Ancestry users are getting the reputation of being "unethical" on other web-sites.
Not everyone 'borrows' freely, but I do know it's sometimes alarming when someone 'hijacks' relatives from your tree and their connections are wrong and they ignore your polite requests to fix it.

Someone decided that my maternal grandmother had a second marriage and 2 more kids from that union. He took the pics and all... problem is I know for a FACT my grandmother was only married once and that his info is in error. He refuses to change it and it's the second non-existant hubby that is his relation. I'm not sure what to do, but I feel bad for his tree searchers who get wrong info from him. It's just as bad as swiping pics from other sites like you say. It's like a violation of your stuff.

I have this same issue!!! There are now about 7 other trees out there with the same "wrong" info!! I have emailed each one, pointed out the error, and they won't drop my information!!! Ancestry is no help on that information either!!!

I have called Ancestry about this same issue!!! No real help either! I had contacted someone who had copied a photo of mine from FindAGrave, I pointed out their Terms & Conditions as well, he didn't care! It's very frustrating! I started putting copyright info on my photos!

Just saw your post. Did you get it resolved? There are several people on the F.A.G. forums who have gotten their "lifted" photos removed, but it must be photos you took yourself, not old family photos.
