Hi Brian!

Thanks for posting! I don't know much about Robinson's in Australia but maybe someone else does here. Have you looked on World Connect through www.Rootsweb.com yet? Best of Luck in your research!

Greetings, I am researching a branch of Robinson located in Victoria, Australia.

I have come to the dreaded brick wall with;

James Robinson, (my 2nd great grandfather)  Birth 1816 in Bishop Auckland, Durham, England and Death 3 July 1891. Arrival 5 December 1839, Hobsons Bay (Australia) Married Jessie Harden 30 January 1856  Geelong, Victoria

Any information would gratefully appreciated on either James or Jessie. Thank you, Brian Thorburn

Welcome to all new members! One of my favorite free sites is: www.genforum.com check it out as well.For those of you who don't already do this you might find the information you are looking for by going the "back door method". That means check out the spouse line of your Robinson to find information on your particular Robinson. Also, you might find information through your Robinson siblings. Another thing I have luck with is writing a Letter to the Editor of the local newspaper,where your ancestor was from, if it's a small paper. The bigger newspapers don't seem to print genealogy letters.I find most newspapers & libraries are on line today.So you can e-mail them.

Good Luck!

I first find Robinson in my tree about 1760 when a John Hamilton marries Elizabeth Robinson, I think in Northumberland County, but it could be a little south of there.  Their daughter marries an Ebenezer Robinson abt 1817 either around Pittsburgh or in Crawdford Co. PA.  He supposedly dies in 1833 near Zanesville, OH.  Their son John Hamilton Robinson is my G-Grandfather.  Any one know them or good research sources for them.

Hello - is anyone researching the Robinsons in the Gaspe area of Quebec?  Possible one or more were United Empire Loyalists.  I haven't had much luck so far.  Thanks for any assistance in this regard.

Hi there :) I'm looking for the parents of Catherine (Denny) Robinson in England and so far not having much luck. Catherine was born 1756 and died 1841  and married a Robert Robinson if I have my facts straight. Anyone else searching for this line?

Hello Pamela, thank you for your welcome and your response. Yes, I have all of the items that you listed...the death certificate, his obit (from the funeral). The parents are listed, but that's it. The birth certificate was destroyed in a fire many years ago (what's that saying about luck?) While I've been able to find most of my great-grandmothers (Alcy Wingwood) family, I've hit a brick wall with my great-grandfather (James Luke Robinson). I will try the sites that you listed. Thanks again for your response.

Welcome Malcolm!

Besides this site some of my favorite free sites are: www.genforum.com,www.rootsweb.com,www.usgenweb.com,www.familysearch... Have you gotten a copy of your grandfather's death certificate from AZ. yet?Or gotten a copy of his obit. from the Pima,AZ. public library?Check to see if you can find Leslie's birth certificate in TX. too.That would list both of his parents & their ages.

Good Luck! Any other suggestions everyone?
