I found some info on a Larcena Pennington from Nashville, Tn into Arizona may be interesting for those of you from that area>

I have a brick wall in my own Pennington Family tree but... I have been proactive in my attempts to circumnavigate it.  Here is what I am doing:

1) joined the Pennington Research Association.  This group has Pennington members from around the globe all together in one place, neatly aligned in Groups.

2) had a male Pennington in my family Y-DNA tested through FamilyTree DNA. 

The DNA results helped the most.  At the 67 level I had one person with a 2-step mutation meaning that our lines meet at some point in time.  Several other Pennington names popped up but there were too many mutations between our lines to make research between them unprofitable.

How has everyone else fared with DNA testing?

I am interested in the Pennington family from Mississippi, Alabama and Oklahoma.  I do have some info to share specifically in Oklahoma.  I think the name "Willie" may be William Franklin or Francis Pennington and the name of Jackson (maiden name) is Nancy Ann Jackson born about 1820 again both in Alabama.  My direct e-mail address is azfop5@msn.com.  Thanks

My name is Mike Pennington and i am trying to locate more info on my great grandfather whose name is Alonzo Charles (A.C.) Pennington born 1854 in Mississippi.  Alonzo was a Baptist Minister in Van Zandt, Texas and moved into the Indian Territory (Oklahoma) where he died in 1936 and buried in Crow Cemetery Ringling, Ok.  He was married to Susan F. Cross-Fowler-Pennington born 1861 in LA and died in 1930 and buried in Muskokee, Oklahoma.  Alonzo's parents listed were "Willie" and "Jackson" born in Alabama.  I need to be able to make that connection.  In 1850 I found an F. Pennington with Nancy Jackson with a son "Thomas".  Alonzo had brothers Thomas Sidney Pennington 1849/1850 and Benjamin Franklin Pennington 1856 both in Mississippi.  "Willie" and brother(s) fought in the Civil War?  Any Help?

Graves PENNINGTON died around 1853 in Nashville Tn.  He owned the land that OLE OPRYLAND stood on.  There is a bend in the Cumberland river that was called PENNINGTON bend.  His mother was probably a GRAVES also... so he married a distant cousin.

I have also been in touch with probable cousins.  They changed their name to PENDLETON, among others.

looking for descendants of Graves PENNINGTON and either of his wives' Franky GRAVES and Martha BONDURANT.  He was born in 1783.  He Died in Nashville, Tn.  Had 3 sons by his first marraige, John Winfield P., James T. P., and William P.  He had a number of children by Martha, whom he married in 1823 i think. John and James Married cousins, John marrying Elizabeth DODSON and James marrying Margeret Ann SAMPLE (her mom was a dodson).  Graves and James died within a year of each other, around 1854.
