How about this to help out the programmers. There are many more options using the Ning platform, and the WVR programmers will never know which we prefer unless we ask.

Ol' Myrt here has figured out that although I've added my three RSS feeds to my own page, NONE post on the main page of GenealogyWise.com.
There is no way I am manually cross-posting every single blog entry.
What can be done to fix this?

The big item that is missing at present is a facility to add links. I find the links facility particularly useful on Facebook for keeping Group members informed of interesting URLs. Is there some way a new links section could be added with perhaps a tab on the main page too? It seems odd that we can add links to videos but not to everyday websites!

I wish the full text of a posting would come out in those email notifications from GenealogyWise, as they do in Facebook. This gives you an idea if you must respond immediately, or it you just want to get through the rest of your email before opening up your web browser. -- The email notices we're getting now are of little or no value to me. (Yes, I've learned to have Outlook auto-place them in a specific folder so my mail inbox isn't so cluttered.)
In other words, GenealogyWise, this isn't about page hits, this is about social networking.
If you happen to get a lot of page hits, then so much the better.
Remember that another large genealogy website has been attempting for years to overcome the reputation about being too focused on the numbers.
If you build it -- they will come.

I totally agree. I won't be able to keep up if I have to open every e-mail and click on the link to find out if a posting is of interest.

I wish GenealogyWise could offer free seminars or courses. Set times where members could come learn about methodology, research techniques, about specific sources, organization, certain periods of history and how these periods in history can affect research. Anyone could set up these seminars and courses and anyone could join in the free class and all they would have to do is show up at the time the seminar/class was scheduled.

I'd like to see surname pages with documentation. For instance, I could enter my grandfather and upload a JPG of his death certificate, family bible entry, etc., anything acceptable as a primary or secondary source. You could require a source upload without verifying if the source is acceptable so long as it could be reported to administrators and removed is needed. Upon removal, the name entry would no longer be valid. Any name with any uploaded or "typed into a form" source would be acceptable. If we had a surname database of just entries with sources it would be a lot more accurate.

I'd like to see the groups organized into categories by surname, locale, society, websites, etc. I can already see that having to scroll through the groups to find something applicable to me is going to quickly become very overwhelming.

I couldn't agree more about categorizing the groups. Also it SHOULD go to MY GROUPS, with the option for ADDITIONAL GROUPS. That way one doesn't have to click an extra time to find out about activities on each of our own groups.

This should be possible -- with the fact that there is at least ONE chat room available.
However, don't you think it would be better of WE THE MEMBERS set up a class schedule, rather than having WorldVitalRecords.com do it?
