John Aird 1806-1886. Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Died in Utah, USA

I have been researching my husband's side of the family for about 2 years now and have been very successful in going back several genrations. But there is one particular branch of the family that I am particularly interested in: the Aird family, namely John Aird ( my husband's great, great, great grandfather ) who became a mormon and eventually went over to Utah in his twilight years leaving behind most of his family in Kilmarnock. I am reading a very interesting book by Polly Aird about a very distant relation called Peter McAuslan, Mormon convert, Mormon Defector. It has answered my question about why so many Scottish people converted to that particular faith. Anyway I will be very grateful if anyone can help me out.
