I have been looking for any other family collection to my William Gragg in Ireland or South Carolina. William and Jane are mentioned in the boo "Annals of Newberry" and it tells that Williams wife's name was Jane. this couple had children Nancy B. 1775, John born 1777, William B. 1780-81, Mary, born 1784, and Thomas B. 1787.

William Sr. would have been born abt. 1743 and Jane abt. 1739-40 and they both came from Ireland on the Ship Lord Dunluce with the Rev. William Martin and his 5 shiploads of Presbyterian from Northern Ireland. the Reverand Martin preached at several churches in the Co. Antrim area of Londonderry, Ballymoney, Ballymena and Vow, among other locations.. This ship left the port of Larne in Oct. 1772 and landed in Charleston in Dec.1772 and was held in port because of Smallpox beng aboard.

I know that William Greg and John Greg signed a letter of appreciation to the Rev.  Martin and Capt. Gillis of the ship Lord Dunluce in gratitude of the concern and safe voyage to the Port of Charleston, S.C. there were o other Greg surnames on the ship, but I believe Ninian was a Craig. there was Jane, Mary, John and William Greg listed on the same ship list. I don't know if Jane and Mary were really Greg or Craig, because many of the passengers were illiterate and smeone else had to sign their names.

William and Jane were granted 150 acres of land in Newberry co. and when I found a copy of a land sale on the internet, it mentioned Williams wife, Jane, Agnes Williamson, wife of James Williamson, John, William and Thomas Gragg. This sale was the land that William Sr. was originally granted.

My direct line is John born Jan. 3, 1777 in S.C. and he married a Jane Gladney.

The Gragg family were associated and kin to the McCalla family in S.C. and when Robert McCalla's mother died and Johns parents died, they left S.C. for Georgia. I found them in Gwinnett co. in 1830. From there they moved to Lincoln co, Tennessee where they lived until about 1850 before moving to Shelby and Tipton co. Tennessee.

I assume that Jane Gladney, who married John Gragg, was the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Agnes Gladney of S.C. I have not proven this but believe it to be true because of the naming pattern of their children and Jane's birthdate of Ca. 1786 in S.C.

If anyone has any connection to this Gragg, McCalla, and Gladney family in S.C., Georgia, or Tennessee  please please contact me. I have been looking for any connection with the Gragg family.

Thank you.
