Genealogy Wise

The Genealogy & Family History Social Network

Okay, so I keep getting these e-mails from WorldVitalRecords trying to sell me this book. It sounds intriguing, but that's a lot of money for a book. (Joining the Texas Genealogical Society is cheaper than this.)

So I want to know if any of you have this book, and what you think of it. WVR has a special right now for free shipping if you buy this book. If I'm going to get it at all, I'd love to do it in the next couple of days.

I do use Google when researching family history. If this book is mainly going to tell me what I already know (like using quotes around phrases), I don't want to spend the money. But if there are "secrets" that I haven't heard about yet, then I'd be interested.

I'm not sure how to classify myself as a family historian  -- probably intermediate. I've been doing this for about four years, off and on, and mostly on the internet. (I do have plans to start doing more legwork, but for now the 'net is my best option).

Thanks in advance!

Hey Stacy - Its worth twice that price! Its an incredible book, really explain how to use the features of google, best for genealogy. I lecture on internet resources, and its easily one of the "must have" books on my own shelf. I know there are lots of books about genealogy and the internet out there, but Google Your Family Tree would be the first one I'd choose. I've met the author, Dan Lynch, and he really knows his stuff. And while this may sound like yet another advertisement for the book - it isnt - I just really like it and recommend it very highly.
