Hi Darla....I'm not a Brewer, but I was raised in Northeastern NC, and went to school with some Brewer's from Northampton County NC. Brunswick Co. Virginia is just a hop and a skip from our area, and the Brewers I'm speaking of lived in Gaston, NC.   If you get the chance try googleing  Amy Brewer and Alvin Brewer of Gaston (Northampton County) NC.

not sure where Amy brewer lives now, but they may very well be a part of your family...good luck, and let me know if you find out anything.

p.s.  Richardson is one of the largest Sur- names in Halifax County, Hollister NC. Made up mostly of hollowa-saponi indians. originally an english sur-name, most of the indigenous indians of halifax, and cumberland county adopted that sur-name as their own.  I'm curious to know if Oma Mary Richardson was white, or if Ambrose married one of the Lumbi indians in that area? please write back as i am now curious to know.

Hi David, It has been said in my family for many generations that we are part Cherokee. I have read that the Lumbee tribes are from the Carolinas, still today, and that they are, in fact, Cherokee. I did not know that many had taken the surname of Richardson, that is an interesting piece of information which I will definitely pass on. There were many more rumors in our line of Native American ancestry. I would love to find out more. So, I do not know for a fact that Ambrose wife Mary Oma Richardson was Native or not, I tend to believe she was as the Indian looks run deep in most of my family members.
