Blog doesn't seem to work correctly

I keep getting email messages that clearly state "so and so has added a comment etc." and the email gives hot links ... but the hotlinks do not go to the person's posting, they always go to the main page which does not have a link, that I can see anyway, to the new post. What am I missing here? I see no use in this service at all...help!
Confused in St. Louis I'm supposed to be signed up for the Missouri group....
