I have recently been taking the "Social Media Tools for the Wise Genealogist" and am very excited about how much I have learned. The course nudged me into a new comfort zone. My next step is to research methods to post my rather large One-Name Study IBBOTSON on the web. Does anyone have suggestions?

When I set up my page back in 2009, I somehow set the Location to GOONS (Guild of One-Name Studies). When I looked on the drop-down surname list, my name (Gimblett) isn't there. How can I make sure it is listed amongst the surnames?

Do you have a passion for Genealogy? We do too! We are a small group of amateur genealogist with big dreams of creating an online family tree program that leverages the power of Facebook. Over the last year, we’ve been working hard (with very limited funds) to bring Family TreeTop out of the drawing board and into the virtual world. We’re almost there but we need your help.

We are looking for people to test our program and provide feedback. Go ahead and create your own Family Tree or check out the handful of family trees in the “Famous Families” section. What works well? What needs more work? What’s missing? What can be improved? Anytime you want to provide feedback, click on the “Have Your Say” section that’s located on the right side of the page.

You can see some screenshots on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FamilyTreeTop. We know the website still needs work! The colours are off. The font is not uniform. We don’t even have a proper logo yet! (Did I mention that we’re a small group with limited funds?!) Not to worry, we’ll clean all that stuff up later. Right now, we are ready to open the gate and take Family TreeTop for a test run!

Come visit us at www.FamilyTreeTop.com

We’d love to hear from you.

Regards,

The Family TreeTop Team

P.S. We are also looking for volunteers to create language packs, develop Famous Family Trees and help out with documentation. Send us an email if you want to pitch in.
Alittle interesting site for genealogytag:www.genealogywise.com,2012-05-22:3463583:Topic:4475462012-05-22T01:16:59.680ZMikehttp://www.genealogywise.com/profile/Michelserandour

Has anyone used AmericanAncestors.org? I received an email from them this morning with an offer to join for free. The website is part of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. I do not have the time today to look through the databases and set anything up, but was wondering if anyone has experience with this database? Pros and cons? Strengths and weaknesses? Basically, is it worth my time? Thank you in advance for your responses.

The email said my account would be charged just under $100 on Nov. 22 if I didn't cancel beforehand but how on earth can you cancel beforehand if you can't do it online and they are closed the last 2 days of your trial period??

Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing with WorldVitalRecords.com. I'm pretty upset because I cannot afford to pay for an unwanted membership on Monday of nearly $100. :(
